Notwithstanding the roguish nature of politics, power is still goodwill business. Put simply but in a more admirable way, the established reputation of any politician is his or her intangible asset.
In politics, you can never can know when, where, how, and why your reputation will come in handy especially on a rainy day (and there are many rainy days in politics).
Take home point before we become verbose. A politician who squanders his or her goodwill is leaving on borrowed times. Hope Odidika Uzodinma, erstwhile senator and now the dejure governor of Imo State sure has tones of goodwill to his credits. He has been around and plays in the major national league but was careful to leave some flanks open both home and abroad, so to speak.

He was in PDP, saw it all, capping his stint in the then ruling Umbrella party with BOT Membership and senate position before moving on to the present ruling APC or Broom party where he has handed the elite and plum job of Governor.
Onwa Oyoko (that is the governor’s favorite moniker or Chieftaincy title) is a hardcore power player and takes no prisoner when it comes to political orography. Yet people who know him attest to his good spiritedness unlike some leaders that are reputed to be wicked, mean, callous, selfish and vindictive when in power.
Put in Igbo language, *Onwa Oyoko anaghi eji okwe ndorondoro ochichi ma obu political orography eme nwanne, man, owuu onye Obi sari sari wurukwa nwoke Obi oma.*
