A Done prof. Adaobi basis has admonished Christians to allow the consciousness of eternity to guide them in all they do, say or think.
Prof.Adaobi Obasi who stated this in her keynote address with the theme BE prepared: A call for eternity’ which she delivered at the 28 diocesan Mothers Union Conference held at st. Peters Anglican church Alaenyi Ogwwwwa Mbaitoli LGA also advised christains never to be anxious for anything but through prayers and supplication make their needs known to God.
Prof.Adaobi Obasi who is the vice-chancellor of IMO state University, Owerri cited Paul and Silas in the bible who while in the prisons prayed their prison chains were loosened and they miraculously gained their freedom but substantiated the efficacy of prayers.
She maintained that preparing for eternity requires a daily studying and living by the word of God. Pointing out that the popular saying that ‘life is short, enjoy’ should be taken seriously.
The IMSU VC said as life is short, eternity is long-short which must be prepared for by Christians adding that if people should do all in nourishing a short life, on earth in the name of enjoyment, Christian should do more in preparing for eternity which starts at the end of brief life…The Don noted that all these forms of enjoyment are aimed at beautifying the earthly body that will easily be put off and frowned at a situation where Christians spend more of their money and time on luxury and expensive cars, jewellery, clothes, houses and holiday trips abroad.
Prof.Obasi reiterated that for the purpose of success, Christian must prepare for everything they do eternity inclusive adding that as women prepare for soup and other things a woman is supposed to prepare in the house, Eternity requires strict and careful preparation on daily basis. She maintains that eternity begins with our standing before great god to give an account of your lives on earth adding that this account is peculiar and crucial in many ways as it is individually done stressing that before God there is no secret or anything hidden. The Don admonished Christians to look unto God in every condition they found themselves for their solace stating that it is God who gives succour to the downtrodden. Prof. Adaobi Obasi also recalled when Jesus once told Nicodemus who visited him by Night that he must be born again simply meaning giving our lives to God through the acceptance of Christ as our Lord and personal savours
