Probe: Charity should begin at home, Uzodinma told

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has been told to first probe himself before investigating his predecessors.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA of Imo State, Chief Darlington Anyanwu who gave the advice said it is always better for charity to begin at home.

Uzodinma had at shortly after his swearing in ordered the probe of his predecessors namely Ikedi Ohakim, Rochas Okorocha and Emeka Ihedioha.

Anyanwu argued that since the probe is geared towards instilling discipline and restoring confidence in governance of the state, it would be good the governor first probes himself.

According to him; ”I am not against Senator Hope Uzodinma probing his predecessors, my concern is that he who goes to equity must go with clean hands.

He should start the probe with himself especially on what he was doing before he went to the Senate and represented the good people of Orlu Senatorial Zone for eight years.

How he even got to the senate, what he did with all the contracts (allegedly) given to him while in the senate.

He should equally probe the political arithmetic of how he came fourth in an election, and all of a sudden he became first in an election in which his political party – APC did not win a seat in the state assembly election”.

Anyanwu further alleged that the probe is a plot targeted against Chief Ikedi Ohakim who burled the state from 2007-2011 under the PDP political platform and Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha PDP whom the supreme Court declared his seven months reign as illegal and ultra-vires.

He alleged that he incumbent Governor has reconciled with Senator Rochas Okorocha who ruled the state between May 29th, 2011 and May 29th, 2019 arguing that both belong to the same political party and were partners in the legal battle that removed Ihedioha as governor of the state.

He also advised Governor Uzodinma to be mindful of the maxim that says “Whatever seed one sows in life that he or she must reap while insisting that the reason behind the probe is to allegedly declare Governor Okoracha innocent.

According to him “I am foreseeing a situation in which all the lands (allegedly) illegally acquired by Governor Rochas Okorocha during his eight years administration of the state would be restored to Okorocha.
