The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Imo State Police Command has smashed a seven-member child trafficking syndicate and recovered one of its victims, 5-year-old boy, Master Godday Obi.
It was gathered that the police had received the report of the theft of master Obi last December at Umuejechi Nekede, Owerri West LGA of the state. Acting on the report, the police first arrested one Nkechi Iroegbu, 39 years of Akoli Imenyi Community in Bende LGA of Abia State before rounding up other members of the syndicate.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu disclosed that the confession of the said Iroegbu led to the arrest of the six other suspects. The suspects are Chukwudi Ndukwe, Edu Monday Akpan, Chinwendu Uzonwu Chinyeaka Gregory Dame Chidinma Ekwundu and Onwuduba Eucharia Obiageli.
Ikeokwu said the suspects confessed their involvement leading to the recovery of the stolen child.
