- Your remark about APC is bogus, childish
The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has lashed out at the Secretary-General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Uche Okwukwu, warning him against dragging the socio-cultural organization into the murky waters of partism politics.
Thye OYC described Okwukwu’s statement that the ALL Progressive Congress (APC) would clinch more South East states as bogus and childish.
Okwukwu was credited as saying while congratulating Senator Hope Uzodinma on his emergence as governor of Imo state that “a greater number of states in Igbo land would be won by the All Progressive Congress before the 2023 general election”.
The OYC, in a statement dated 17th January, 2020 and signed by Kalu Nwokoro Idika, National Publicity Secretary said it considers such a remark as irresponsible which does not in any way reflect the interest of the Igbo people.
Okwukwu warned against dragging the organization into partisan politics, saying the era when political manipulators took undue advantage of the Igbo people was gone.
It stated that the Igbo would not pitch tent with any political party, adding that the people could only work with any party that addresses the myriad of problems. Facing the people.
It said the Igbo would regard as a saboteur any politician from Igbo land who would dance to the whims and caprices of the oppressors of the race.
