MRS UZAMAT AKINBILE YUSSUF URGED BEGGERS TO GET SKILLS

The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, has urged the physically challenged and jobless people who have formed the habit of engaging in street begging to stop the action and get a vocation for self-reliance.

The commissioner admonished beggars in several parts of Lagos metropolis to take advantage of the several skills acquisition programmes to get engaged in a vocation and get skilled, against the backdrop of the recent ban on street begging in Kano and Nasarawa states,

Akinbile-Yussuf made the remarks on Thursday at the maiden edition of community engagement of all stakeholders in the Alimosho constituency.

The commissioner disclosed that the interactive session with residents was held to intimate residents of Alimosho about the T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda of the administration in the state and also a youth development programme that will be facilitated by her pet project-the Moremi Goodwill Project.

She also unveiled an interest-free loan empowerment scheme for Alimosho residents, adding that the loan has three months moratorium to support artisans, traders and entrepreneurs with start-up capital for their businesses.
