In the interview, Superintendent Chimeziri Lowel O. bared his mind on some issues and operational achievements of the command.

CAN WE MEET YOU OFFICIALLY SIR?
My name is Superintendent Chimeziri Lowel O., I am by God’s grace the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps of Imo State Command. I’ve been in this position for 10 years. I’ve also won three (3) awards in Nigeria as the best P.R.O., the last one was on the 19th December 2019. I have also been opportune to travel for seminars in so many countries.
DO YOU ORGANIZE WORKSHOPS OR SEMINARS TO ENLIGHTEN THE PUBLIC ABOUT YOUR OPERATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS?
Well, my State Commandant in his wisdom visited the 27 Local Governments Areas (LGAs) in Imo State and had meetings with the traditional rulers knowing fully well that if you want to fight crime, you start from the grassroots. These criminal agents are known by their leaders, so there was this familiarization tour between the state commandant and the traditional rulers. Also, we don’t only organize seminars for these people to stay out of crime and criminalities, but we also embark on training and retraining of our officers and men of the service to make sure we’re very professional in the discharge of our duties.
WHAT IS THE COMMAND DOING WITH RESPECT TO THE ISSUE OF PIPE-LINE VANDALISM, AND BUNKERING?
That is why we’re paid salary, we are not relating. If you watch very rigorously you’ll realize that the struggle against pipeline vandalism is on a high side, the officers and men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps are leaving no stone un-turn to make sure that these syndicates are brought to book. We have actually displayed a high level of professionalism in making sure these people are intercepted because in the event you permit them, they may actually sabotage the economy of the nation.
WHAT IS THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE CONVICTED SO FAR?
I am not too sure but we have about 2-3 convicted recently but we have not been given the details but the Authorized Unit from my group and from my Boss show that some of them were sentenced to upwards of five (5) years imprisonment, some three (3) years, we have two (2) years imprisonment too.
