Cannabis, also known as marijuana among other names, it is a psychoactive drug that is from the cannabis plant used for medical or recreational purposes. It is also called weed, herbs, pot, grass, buds, ganja, mary jane and a great number of other slangs term. Some people smoke marijuana in hand-rolled cigarettes called joints, pipes and blunts. It can also be used to brew tea and it is mixed into foods such as brownies, cookies and candies. A new method used is by smoking or eating different forms of THC rich resins.

These extracts have exposed a lot of people to danger which has led them to the emergency room. A lot of people has caused fire and explosions and have seriously being burnt from using butane to make extracts at home.

  • PREVENTION OF ALZHEIMER’S: THC, the most effective ingredient present in marijuana slows the growth of Alzheimer’s disease, a 2006 study led by Kim Janda of amyloid plaques by stopping the enzymes in the brain that forms them. Plaques kill the brain cells and lead to Alzheimer’s disease.

  • INCREASES TREATMENT EFFECTIVENESS FOR HEPATITIS C: treating hepatitis c infection has severe side effects, so severe that many patients are not able to finish their treatment. But a European journal of gastroenterology and hepatology discovered that 36% of patients using marijuana successfully finished their therapies, while 29% of non-smokers completed their treatments. So marijuana reduces the treatments side effects.

  • STIMULATES APPETITE: the common use of medical marijuana is for people going through chemotherapy. cancer patients going through chemotherapy have side effects like severe pains, painful nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite which could lead to further health complications. However, marijuana can reduce these side effects.
  • PROTECT BRAIN AFTER TRAUMATIC ATTACK: this isn’t the only research that has shown neuroprotective effects from marijuana. The plant may help protect after traumatic events like concussions.
  • HELP ELIMINATE NIGHTMARES: people who suffer from serious nightmares, especially patients with PTSD, this can be helpful. Nightmares and other dreams occur during those same stages of sleep.
