The students of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri have been called upon to be focused and steadfast in their studies at this present economic predicament ravaging the country and the universe.

The President of the Student Union Government of the School Comrade Alozie Glory U. gave this advice while speaking to Evergreen News Media team in an interview at her Office in Owerri recently.

Comrade Alozie who is the first female student Union President of the institution also urged the students to be committed to their studies to be relevant in future in order to overcome poverty at all levels.

“In this economic hardship, my advice to the students is to stay steadfast, committed to their studies and manage their little resources well. Those who can extend their hands to entrepreneurship can also do that so that we can eliminate poverty in our society” she said.

On her plans and vision as the SUG President for the institution, Comrade Alozie Glory hinted that her administration has embarked on the renovation of student hostels and regular water supply to the students to enable them to live healthy, adding that security is also of paramount priority.

“Firstly, we are looking at the hostels, for renovation and we are also looking at the water supplies at the hostels for the comfort of the students because we want the hostels to be a better place for the students so that they will live healthily. Secondly, we are looking at the general well-being of the students and their security in the college,” she disclosed.

Speaking on cultism ravaging institutions of higher learning across the country, Comrade Alozie has embarked on enlightening programmes to reduce the menace to the barest minimum, adding that with the joint effort of the school security her administration has harped on the danger of cultism in the campus.

She appealed to the school management, government, corporate bodies and philanthropists to assist them financially in order to meet their target on bettering the lives of the students in the institution.
