Attitude literally can be defined as the way you think and feel about something and also the way to behave towards somebody. Gratitude is seen as a feeling of being grateful and wanting to express yourself. An attitude of gratitude is the act of making a habit to express appreciation and thankfulness in all parts of life either in both big and small.
You have to agree with me that in life we ought to be thankful in everything we do. Many of us live a lifestyle full of conveniences, we live in comfortable homes, wear nice clothes, and have reliable transportation we have no shortage of clean water or healthy food, we have access to quality healthcare and education, and basically live a good life with a lot of freedom, safety, and security. It is easy to take these wonderful blessings for granted and begin to focus on what we don’t have; millions of people around the world live without the basic necessities of life. I’ll never forget the time one of our sons went on a weekend outreach with a team of people to help the homeless. It was obvious that the experience touched him deeply. He called me and said; if I ever complain again. Please knock me down for being so stupid. After he saw how some people were living, he was appalled at how he had complained about small things in his own life. ‘We have to think about this that those without a place to lay their head would like to have any place at all to live.
I want you to try something, as you go about your day, make a point to be grateful for the things you may have or you already have. One of the most valuable things you can do throughout the day is to praise God as you work. I want to fix my thought s on God, thank him for what he has done in my life and for the words of wisdom he has given me to speak out and also to give him praises all the days of my life. Praising God always draws us closer to him, and it helps us to hear clearly from him and hold on to our faith through JESUS CHRIST.
This year is expected to be a season of gratitude, but too often it becomes a time of nothing but stress. Some people need reminders of how to keep perspective, stay positive, and revel in life’s Joy. Not everyone thinks gratitude is a desirable thing. A popular writer Joseph Stalin said ‘Gratitude is a sickness suffered by dogs’, but actually, dogs are great at saying thanks. They practically make themselves ill expressing their enthusiastic gratitude for even the smallest gift.
In normal life, we hardly realize how much more we receive than we give, and life cannot be without such gratitude. It is so easy to overestimate the importance of our own achievement compared with what we owe to help others. When a person doesn’t have gratitude, something is missing in his/her life. A person who can be defined by his or her attitude towards gratitude is successful. At the age of 18, I made a decision to fill my life with an endless sea of gratitude in which it has uplifted me.
We often ruin compliments by devaluing the statements or acting overly humble. Internally, you might think this prevents you from appearing arrogant. The problem is that by deflecting the praise of a genuine compliment, you don’t acknowledge the person who was nice enough to say something. Simply say ‘Thank you’ to the person who made the compliment you enjoy every moment. For instance ‘You killed your presentation today, did I?, I felt so nervous up there. I’m happy it went well.
There is something so special empowering about accepting a compliment. When you deflect praise, you can’t really own it. When you just say ‘Thank you’, you let the weight of the compliment sink in and become yours. Saying ‘Thank you’ gives you mind permission to be built up by the compliments you receive. It is highly welcomed saying thank you when you’re are running late because being late is the worst. So most people stumble in the door 14 minutes late. Say so sorry I’m late. Traffic was insane out there. Thank you for your patience. When we make a mistake, someone else often makes a sacrifice. Our default response is to apologize for our failure, but the better approach is to praise their patience and loyalty. Thank them for what they did despite your errors.
