Allow consciousness of eternity guide your actions, Christians, told

Date:

The Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri, prof. Adaobi Obasi has admonished Christians to allow the consciousness of where they would spend their actions.

Prof. Obasi gave the advice in a keynote address she delivered at the 28th Diocesan Mother’s Union Conference held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Alaenyi Ogwa in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo state. She enjoined Christians not to be anxious for anything but through supplication to make their request known to God.

Obasi cited Paul and Silas who prayed while in prison and the chains used in binding them loosened and the prison gates opened for them to regain their freedom. She maintained that preparing for eternity requires a daily study and living by the word of God, pointing out that the popular saying that “life is short, enjoy” should be taken seriously.

The VC said as life is short, eternity is long which must be prepared for the Christians. She added that if people should do all in nourishing a short life on earth in the name of enjoyment, Christians should do more in preparing for eternity which starts at the end of a brief life.

She maintained that eternity begins with standing before God to give an account of one’s life on earth, adding that this account is peculiar and crucial in many ways as it is individually done. The don admonished Christians to look unto God in every condition they find themselves for their solace, stating that it is God who gives succor to the downtrodden.
